Originally founded in the mid-1970s and beginning life as A.F. Read & Sons, Antiquarian Booksellers. Based on the edge of the Cotswolds, this small family-run business specialised in natural history and ornithology and ran a popular mail order catalogue for many years. With half a century of experience to build on, the booksellers grew to become book publishers, Read & Co.

Today, based in Bristol, Read & Co. is a British independent publishing house specialising in the restoration and revival of beautiful out-of-print treasures, and forgotten voices. With an eclectic list spanning a multitude of subjects, it provides readers with books that spark imagination, inspire wisdom, and encourage thought and conversation. Read & Co. is a small publisher with a big heart, and even larger plans.
